Over the last several weeks I've been thinking of where exactly I want my art to be shown and what sites I want to associate myself with. I've been noticing an odd trend in DA lately.

Now, I'm not trying to get on anybodies bad side, nor am I implying that anyone who takes part or makes the following controversial content are bad or that they shouldn't do what they do. But continuing my membership here at DA is beginning to compromise my personal convictions when it comes to certain forms of content, in this case, fetish art.

I know DA isn't a fetish site. That much is clear, but I have run into some fetish art here just randomly browsing. Not explict pictures mind you, but it's obvious enough that it's an influence. I have no personal qualms with the makers or readers/watchers of such things but it's not my kind of content and, quite honestly, the art itself creeps me out. It's a major reason why I haven't been active lately.

I've talked about it to some other people and they pointed out some solutions, such as setting the filter of the main DA page to "best of all time," which never changes. And simply not browsing randomly.

Still, I know the art is out there and easy to find on DA. i know other public sites will have the same content too, and that I'll never fully escape such things. I know they have every right to post what they will, and I wouldn't stop them, even if I could. However, I have found cleaner public sites, and am very much considering joining them.

I'll get back to you on my decision after some more research but for now, this is where I'm at. I may still stick around and give it another chance and just be more careful with what I browse. We'll see.

So you guys are probably wondering what I've been up to lately?

Well quite a bit. Not the lest of which is a little side comic I've been doing over at Falcon6's forums. Intended as a christmas gift to the community over there, as well as testing grounds for various little things I've been messing around with. I may put them up here, but most of the comics aren't really anything worth putting here...

at least, not until I get me a new DA account, which is also in the works.

Aside from that, I've finally got a hold of the so renowned and critically acclaimed book "How To Make Webcomics." In case you don't know, it's written by four very accomplished webcomic authors: ave Kellet (Sheldon), Scott Kurtz (PvP), Brad Guigar (Evil Inc) and Kris Straub (Starslip Crisis). Very informative and very awesome.

Now before you get excited, this doesn't guarantee anything regarding my own comic. I'm still messing around with different things, and there are still huge problems with the story and characters that need to be fixed. I do regret to say though, that Dylan, having been deemed undrawable at this point (can't ever get him right) is getting the can, but I already have a more-than-suitable replacement for him in the comic. There's still no telling when I'll get it up and running, so please stay calm and wait until it is ready.

Now that that's out of the way, current messing-around-with-things I'm doing now, Adobe Illustrator CS4! It is among one of the many Adobe products I haven't taken a serious look at despite having spent money on it. Tried messing with flash, couldn't get what I wanted. Illustrator on the other hand is looking very promising, and if I can figure it out, I'm sure I can get back on the art bandwagon with some updates here.

I would like to point out that going back and reading this both gives me a nostalgia rush, and makes me want to tear my eyes out and eat them. The later comics are less eye-acid-ish, but the early ones... DEAR LORD!

Regardless, I know some have seemed to like the idea of it having it's own site and being archived in the vaults of the interwebs, so I did it, just for them. Because unlike many, I look back on my old works with fond memories, even if it's the absolute scum of the universe now.

So yeah. Enjoy the horridity that is the thing to get me into art.
